This summer I was performing with the Théâtre de l'Ange Fou company, in there new production : "Waiting for Ulysses" presented in there summer program, The White Church Theatre project. To find more information about this event it is here, on their website : whitechurchtheatre.org

This summer was the second season of the White Church Theatre project, and for the occasion the company started the season with a new show. "Waiting for Ulysses" is a trip into Penelope's mind while she's desperately waiting for her husband to come back from the dead. It is not anymore the mystical story we all now, as Penelope is a patient in an asylum directed by a strange Doktor and she is no longer pursued by the strongest warriors from the countries around but by a handful of mysterious doctors, when Ulysses is now a shadow, an untouchable ideal...

To get back to the drawings, Rob (one of the actors and the creator of the doctors/suitors suits) had made an amazing prop, a huge book that his character would use in play. And in the middle of the book he had added a few pages...blank pages...
He plan was to draw some writings on them, but I had another plan...mehehe
When I arrived in Spring Green, I hadn't been drawing for almost a year (because of my final exams, work and laziness) A YEAR ! So when I saw this blank pages, I just completely lost my mind and in a week time I came up with this illustrations.

During the second act of the play, the suitors/doctors would metamorphose into characters of the Odyssey, as we were going deeper into Penelope's mind. So I used this characters for the illustrations. Up there we have Circe the witch as she is represented in classical paintings with the wand and a bowl, and of course the pigs ! (I am really proud of my pigs, because they look like pigs :) )
Then down there, starts with the cyclop who have just been stabed by Ulysses.

This one is the vision of Thyresias after Ulysses came to find him in the Underworld.Thyresias tells Ulysses he will have to pass the sea monster Scylla to find his way back home...

Here are the sirens sing their deadly song to Ulysses who is tied to his boat. I used the french text as I was reading the Odyssey at that moment and it was the only version I had with me AND because I thought it would make it poetic to write in another langage than english...

And to finish, Calypso and the cruel Poseidon. I am quiet happy with the poseidon as well, the waves were long to do but I like the effect...

That all for now folks, I'm sorry if the pictures are not the best quality, I had taken them with my phone and the light wasn't good ! See ya all!
